Dominic Cooke Named Next Artistic Director of London's Royal Court Theatre

Dominic Cooke will be the next artistic director at London's Royal Court Theatre. He will assume the position in January 2007, succeeding Ian Rickson.

Cooke previously served as associate director at the Royal Court for four years, directing seven productions there, including Vasilly Sigarev'sPlasticine and Michael Wynne's The People are Friendly. He is currently associate director at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where his productions have included The Malcontent and Cymbeline.

Rickson has held the position of artistic director since 1998. Past Royal Court artistic directors include William Gaskill, Anthony Page, Nicholas Wright and Stephen Daldry.
