Treat Yourself Right
"I play Tanya in Mamma Mia!, who is very much a person that takes care of herself," McLane says. "I'm that way as well--maybe not to the extreme of my character--but I can be a girly-girl. Getting my nails done, my highlights done, pedicures, things like that. I think Valentine's Day is not only about that other person, it's about you, too!"
Fake It ‘Til You Make It
"The first time I put on the spandex. I cried," McLane says of her outrageous costume. "Especially the white one. I often say spandex doesn't look good on anyone. It's completely about your confidence, so you have to get up there and think you look fabulous. It's a mind game thing." McLane says the idea extends to her personal life. "I'm a single woman. I'm in the dating scene," McLane notes. "And you never know when you're going to meet somebody. You have to put your best foot forward even when you're tired and out buying groceries."
Be Open
Looking good, feeling gorgeous yet? McLane, a self-proclaimed "yoga person," says the key to loving yourself is to be open. "Have fun," she says. "The beauty of this role is that Tanya is a party girl. She knows she can do anything to capture men. She just knows she has it. You invest in a character and it kind of rubs off. I'm learning to be more carefree, more confident and more comfortable. The best thing you can do is be open to all possibilities."
