Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me to Play Toronto Before Broadway

Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me has added a third tryout city to its pre-Broadway schedule. In addition to San Francisco and Chicago, the show will hit Toronto for a run at the Canon Theatre from May 27 through July 2.

Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, which is not a solo show, combines musical comedy sketches and dance numbers. Filling the stage with characters like Jiminy Glick, Ed Grimley and many others, Short brings over 20 years of comic genius to the stage. The production features songs and a script by Short and the Hairspray songwriting team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Wittman will direct.

Fame Becomes Me is scheduled to premiere at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco from April 25 through May 21. It will then play in Toronto before hitting Chicago's LaSalle Bank Theatre, where it will run from July 5 through July 16. Fame Becomes Me is set to open on the Great White Way on August 10 at a Shubert theater to be announced.
