Stuff Happens Extends at the Public Through May 28

The Public Theater has extended its limited engagement of David Hare's Stuff Happens by a month. The show is now scheduled to run through May 28, according to a production spokesperson.

The American Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's famous response to the looting of Baghdad at a press conference on April 11, 2003 provides the title for this play, Stuff Happens. From events that have dominated international headlines for the last two years, Hare has fashioned both a historical narrative and a human drama about the frustrations of power and the limits of diplomacy. Hare is in residence at the Public, incorporating new material into the script that speaks to recent political events.

Stuff Happens, directed by Daniel Sullivan, features Jeffrey DeMunn as Donald Rumsfeld, Zach Grenier as Dick Cheney, Peter Francis James as Colin Powell, Byron Jennings as Tony Blair, Gloria Reuben as Condoleezza Rice and Jay O. Sanders as George W. Bush. It began performances at the Public on March 28 and is scheduled to officially open on April 14.
