A spokesperson for the production has confirmed that "Jane Adams has left the production, but there is no further comment." Adams played Emily, half of a duo of television executives the other one is played by Matthew Modine seeking to televise the crucifixion of a man thought to be the messiah in a South American "banana republic."
In his Theatre.com Review, Matt Wolf said that Adams and Modine constituted a "bizarre double-act," adding: "The always intriguing Adams leaves no tic unexplored in an effort to buoy up a staging that at one point has her disrobing in a contorted fashion that has to be seen to be believed."
The production will close on April 15. Understudy Megan Arellanes has assumed the role of Emily and will continue with the show until the end of its run.
