Boyett Ostar Continues National Deal, Looks to Coram Boy Transfer

Broadway producers Bob Boyett and Bill Haber—who produce together under the company name of Boyett Ostar—will continue looking to London's National Theatre for possible New York transfers. The duo has extended their first-look option deal with the theater company, which was first announced in late 2003. According to Variety, Coram Boy will be the next London-to-New York transfer for Boyett Ostar.

Coram Boy premiered at the National in November 2005 and will return this fall for a run scheduled from November 29 to January 2007. Adapted by Helen Edmundson from a novel by Jamila Gavin, the dark play, set in 18th-century England, tells of two orphans at the Coram Hospital for Deserted Children: Toby, saved from an African slave ship, and Aaron, the abandoned son of the heir to a great estate. Coram Boy received four 2006 Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Play.

Since signing the deal with the National, Boyett Ostar has produced the Broadway bows of four National Theatre productions: Jumpers, Democracy, The Pillowman and The History Boys, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 23.
