Taylor and Bologna's Bermuda Avenue Triangle Aims for Broadway

A late-spring mounting of Renée Taylor and Joe Bologna's Bermuda Avenue Triangle in Brentwood, California, has been announced as "prior to Broadway" in a production statement. The comedy stars its authors alongside Lainie Kazan.

Bermuda Avenue Triangle tells the tale of two widows Taylor and Kazan set up in a Las Vegas retirement condo by their daughters. They think life has passed them by, until they both fall for a charming swindler Bologna.

Bermuda Avenue Triangle opened at off-Broadway's Promenade Theatre on May 11, 1997 and ran there through October 12, 1997. Before it ever hit Gotham though, it played in Los Angeles for nine months first at the Tiffany Theatre and then at the Canon Theatre.

This new production of the play, directed by Bologna and Taylor, recently ran at Delaware's DuPont Theater. In her review of the show there, Variety's Rita Katz Farrell wrote: "This is a superficial, sometimes corny, but still sweet show, with the vulgar moments mitigated by Taylor's giggly delight in her character's newfound sex life and Kazan's joy in passion unleashed. The script draws chuckles across the age range. The younger set loved the lewd stuff; boomers, the sandwich generation's frustration; and the blue-rinse crowd, the been-there shtick."

Bermuda Avenue Triangle is scheduled to run at the Brentwood Theatre from May 30 to June 25 with an official opening date of June 2. Manny Kleinmuntz and Rita McKenzie will also be featured in the cast.
