Wilson, who may be best known as the wife of Tom Hanks, has a long professional resume. Her film credits include The Day It Came to Earth, Tween Witch, Sleepless in Seattle, Mixed Nuts, Now and Then, No Dogs Allowed, That Thing You Do!, Psycho, Runaway Bride, The Story of Us, Auto Focus and The Chumscrubber. Wilson trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Her theatrical credits include London mountings of A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Oresteia and Tis Pity She's a Whore, As You Like It in Los Angeles and a tour of Dinner with Friends. She had been expected to appear on Broadway six years ago in Neil Simon's The Dinner Party but quit after the first Los Angeles preview.
