No Host for 2006 Tonys; 60 Presenters to Share Responsibilities

The wait for the naming of a host of the 2006 Tony Awards is over: There will be none. Instead of a single host for the 60th annual ceremony, there will be 60 presenters.

"The 60th anniversary show is bigger than just one host," Tony Executive Producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner said in a statement. "So we've put together a line-up of 60 stars from the stage to lead our celebration."

Not all 60 of the participants have been announced. However it is now known that Oprah Winfrey, Glenn Close, Hank Azaria, Bernadette Peters, Liev Schreiber, Kyra Sedgwick and Mark Ruffalo will join Julia Roberts, Eric McCormack, Ralph Fiennes, Cynthia Nixon, Martin Short, Alfre Woodard and Anna Paquin as presenters.

The 2006 Tony Awards will take place at Radio City Music Hall on June 11. CBS will broadcast the awards live from 8pm to 11pm.
