The first preview of the Shakespeare in the Park mounting Macbeth, starring Liev Schreiber and Jennifer Ehle, will be delayed by one day because recent rains have slowed down the rehearsal process. The show will now start performances at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park on June 14.
William Shakespeare's Macbeth takes place in a world torn by war, in which treachery, ambition and superstition rule. Macbeth Schreiber is a victorious war general who applies the rules of war to domestic politics and in the process turns his country upside down.
In addition to Schreiber and Ehle, this mounting of Macbeth, directed by Moisés Kaufman, also features Tolan Aman, Teagle F. Bougere, Sterling K. Brown, Lynn Cohen, Sanjit De Silva, Seth Duerr, Amefika El-Amin, Stephanie Fieger, Jacob Fishel, Herb Foster, Philip Goodwin, Hollie Hunt, Florencia Lozano, Joan MacIntosh, Graeme Malcolm, Michael Markham, Mark L. Montgomery, Andrew McGinn, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe, Clancy O'Connor, Pedro Pascal and Ching Valdes-Aran.
Performances of Macbeth are scheduled to continue through July 9.
