All My Children star Jacob Young has extended his stay in Beauty and the Beast. The actor, who was originally scheduled to play his final performance on July 16, will now portray candelabra Lumiere in the Disney musical through August 20.
Young began performances in Beauty and the Beast on May 9. "I'm having the time of my life playing Lumiere," Young said in a statement. "Making my Broadway debut in Beauty and the Beast is a dream come true. The audience response has been so incredible that I wanted to continue performing on Broadway for a while longer."
Young currently plays the troubled JR Chandler a role that earned him a Daytime Emmy Nomination as Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in All My Children. Prior to starting on All My Children, he received a Daytime Emmy Award for his role as Lucky Spencer on General Hospital. His other credits include the film The Girl Next Door and the television movie Beach Boys: An All American Family. Artemis Records released his eponymous solo recording in 2001.
Young does not perform Wednesday matinees because of his All My Children schedule.
