Irish actor Colm Meaney, who is best known for his role as Miles O'Brien in Star Trek: the Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, will join the previously announced Kevin Spacey and Eve Best in the revival of Eugene O'Neill's A Moon for the Misbegotten. The production will open at London's Old Vic on September 26 following previews from September 15.
Meaney was last seen on the London stage in a revival of Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock at the Donmar Warehouse in 1999. In addition to his Star Trek credits, he is known for his roles in such films as Layer Cake, The Boys and Girl from County Clare and Intermission.
In A Moon for the Misbegotten, Meaney will play Phil Hogan, the tenant father at whose home O'Neill's play is set. Hogan is the father of Josie Best, who falls in love with Jim Tyrone Spacey, a third-rate actor whose dreams of stardom were washed away by alcohol.
The production, directed by Howard Davies, will play at the Old Vic through December 23.
