Originally produced in London this spring at the Royal Court Theatre, Dying City tells the story of Kelly, a young therapist whose husband dies while on military duty in Iraq. A year later, his identical twin brother arrives unexpectedly at Kelly's door, seeking solace— and answers to the mystery of his brother's death.
Macdonald directed the New York Theater Workshop's production of Caryl Churchill's A Number. In addition to the London production of Dying City, he has directed extensively at the Royal Court, including productions of the Sarah Kane plays 4.48 Psychosis, Blasted and Cleansed, as well as Lucky Dog and Blood. He directed Roberto Zucco for the RSC, The Triumph of Love at the Almeida Theatre and, most recently, <>Exiles at the National Theatre.
The cast of two for LCT's production of Dying City will be announced at a later date.
