Jennifer Aniston is among a list of stars being touted for an October 23 performance of The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre, according to the event's website. The show will benefit Working Playground, a nonprofit organization that brings arts programs to 35 underserved New York City schools.
With a "schedule permitting" disclaimer, the announced cast list for The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway includes Aniston, Elizabeth Berkley, Rachel Dratch, Rosie Perez and Patrick Wilson.
Since its inception in 1995, the 24 Hour Plays have proved popular with creative artists and audiences across the country, successfully producing more than 300 new short plays. The process begins at 10pm the night before the show, as a group of writers, directors, actors, designers and producers gather at a theater. After everyone has been introduced and briefed, the writers are left alone to compose 10-minute plays. At 7am, the directors return, read the plays and make their bids. The actors arrive, meet with their directors, and begin rehearsals at 9am. Tech rehearsal runs from 5 to 7:30pm, doors open at 7:45 and at 8pm, 22 hours after the group came together at the theater, the new plays are performed for a live audience with lights, sound, props and costumes.
