Bloom and Zane to Star in Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks in London

Richard Alfieri's Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks is headed to the West End's Haymarket Theatre, according to Variety. The production, starring Claire Bloom and Billy Zane, will play a limited season from November 27 to March3, 2007.

Bloom will play Lily Harrison, a formidable Florida retiree who has hired a dance instructor for six weeks. Much to her dismay, she is greeted by an acerbic, transplanted New Yorker, Michael Minetti Zane. After a rocky start, Michael and Lily soon learn they have more in common than either could have imagined. The London production will be helmed by Arthur Allan Seidelman, who also directed the play in Los Angeles in 2001, where it starred the late Uta Hagen and David Hyde Pierce, and a short-lived Broadway production, starring Polly Bergen and Mark Hamill in 2003.

Since making her debut at the Oxford Repertory Theatre in 1946, Bloom has acted major roles in classic and modern plays, including A Streetcar Named Desire and The Cherry Orchard. Her many films include Limelight, Look Back in Anger, The Spy Who Came in From the Cold , Sammy and Rosie Get Laid, Crimes and Misdemeanors and Wrestling with Alligators. Among her roles in television drama are Brideshead Revisited, Shadowlands, Shadow on the Sun, Family Money and Imogen's Face.

Zane's film credits include Zoolander, Titanic, The Phantom, Dead Calm, Sniper, Tombstone, Only You, Orlando, Tales from the Crypt presents Demon Night and Survival Island. He has appeared on stage in Chicago on Broadway, American Music off-Broadway and The Boys in the Backroom with The Actors' Gang.
