Shout! The Mod Musical Closes Off-Broadway 12/10

Shout! The Mod Musical played its final performance on December 10 at off-Broadway's Julia Miles Theater. It had previously announced a December 31 closing date. Since beginning performances on July 11, Shout! played 20 previews and 163 regular performances.

Shout! tracked five young women as they come of age in England during the swinging 1960s. Each woman in the cast was identified by the color of her costume instead of by name: Marie-France Arcilla Blue, Erin Crosby Yellow, Julie Dingman Evans Orange, Erica Schroeder Green and Denise Summerford Red. The tuner used letters to an advice columnist, true confessions, quizzes and advertisements as a frame for many 1960s pop hits, including "To Sir With Love," "Downtown," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "Son of a Preacher Man" and "Goldfinger."

According to the closing notice, Shout! is slated to begin a national tour in spring 2007 with Off-Broadway Booking. Productions in Japan and Korea are also planned.
