Atlantic's Voysey Inheritance Extends a Third Time, Through 3/25

The Atlantic Theater Company has announced a six-week extension of David Mamet's adaptation of Harley Granville Barker's The Voysey Inheritance at its off-Broadway theater, through March 25. The production, which opened on December 6,had originally been scheduled to run through January 7, was initially extended through January 21 and later through February 10.

Atlantic's third production of the season, the world premiere of Jez Butterworth's play Parlour Song, which had been scheduled to begin previews February 28 for a March 21 opening, will now be presented during the 2007-2008 season. Casting and dates for the final production of the 2006-2007 season, the world premiere of the new musical 10 Million Miles formerly called the Patty Griffin musical, will be announced shortly. 10 Million Miles will feature music and lyrics by Griffin Impossible Dream, a book by Keith Bunin The Credeaux Canvas and direction by Michael Mayer Spring Awakening.

David Mamet's new adaptation of The Voysey Inheritance explores the timely issue of morals vs. money as an upper middle class family goes to pieces when it is revealed that the patriarch Fritz Weaver has amassed the family fortune by secretly embezzling money from his clients. As his son Michael Stuhlbarg tries to put things in order, he discovers that the family is more than willing to perpetuate this way of doing business, rather than sacrifice their comfort and luxury.

The Voysey Inheritance features Tony Award nominee Michael Stuhlbarg The Pillowman, Tony Award winner Fritz Weaver Child's Play, Atlantic Company members Steven Goldstein Romance and Todd Weeks The Full Monty, and Rachel Black Necessary Targets, Christopher Duva The Elephant Man, Peter Maloney Celebration and The Room, Judith Roberts Present Laughter, Geddeth Smith Waiting in the Wings, Samantha Soule Dinner at Eight and CJ Wilson Festen.
