On Your Toes, scheduled to run August 14-26, will kick off the coming season. Featuring music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart and a book by Rodgers, Hart and George Abbott, the 1936 musical centers around the staging of a ballet called "Slaughter on 10th Avenue." The show was most recently presented on Broadway in 1983 under the direction of Abbott and starring Natalia Makarova, Christine Andreas, George de la Peña, George S. Irving, Dina Merrill and Lara Teeter.
Li'l Abner will be the third production, running February 5-17, 2008, and directed by David Lee. Based on Al Capp's popular comic strip, the show opened on Broadway in 1956 and has not been revived there since. It starred Edith Adams as Daisy Mae, Stubby Kaye as Marryin' Sam and Peter Palmer in the title role.
The final production will be Flora, the Red Menace, which will run May 6-18, 2008. Featuring music by John Kander, music by Fred Ebb, and book and direction by George Abbott, Flora launched the career of Liza Minnelli during its short Broadway run in 1965.
