Broadway Grosses: Winter Slump Hits Box Office Again

Last week's spikes in the box office proved hard to equal this week, as many Broadway shows experienced a wintertime slump. Only four shows played above 90% capacity, with many more struggling to reach 80%. Translations and The Coast of Utopia made the Top 5 in capacity in this tough week, filling their houses to 94.77% and 91.45%, respectively. Also holding its own is The Color Purple, which got valuable publicity after Fantasia Barrino sang a song from the show on both American Idol and Oprah and filled the Broadway Theatre to 80.12% for the week.
