Three of Broadway's biggest stars, Christine Ebersole, Raul Esparza and Brian Stokes Mitchell, have agreed to test their skills at "Broadway Night at the Bee," a one-night event at The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on March 18. One more guest speller is still to be announced.
Tony Award winner Ebersole is currently starring on Broadway in Grey Gardens and Tony nominee Esparza stars in the Broadway revival of Company. Tony winner Mitchell most recently played the title role in Man of La Mancha.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee features six young spellers who learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The show features music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin, and direction by James Lapine. The Broadway production opened on May 2, 2005.
