Broadway Bares, the popular yearly fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, has announced the theme for its 2007 edition, to be held on June 17 at Roseland Ballroom: "Myth Behavior." Tony Award nominee and longtime Broadway Cares supporter Christopher Sieber Spamalot, Into the Woods served as Emcee at a March 13 launch party that featured a video montage of photos to be used for an ad campaign and promotional calendar featuring the physiques of Zeus, Medusa, Bacchus, Cupid, Neptune and other denizens of Mount Olympus portrayed with god-like perfection by Broadway's hottest dancers.
Returning to direct Broadway Bares XVII for a third year is Denis Jones, who is currently assisting event creator Jerry Mitchell on the Broadway-bound new musical Legally Blonde. Tony winner Mitchell will return to Bares this year as Executive Producer.
Broadway Bares is the hotly anticipated annual event that combines the naughtiness of burlesque and the razzle-dazzle of Broadway, featuring male and female dancers. The first Broadway Bares, presented in 1991 by Mitchell and the Broadway company of The Will Rogers Follies at Splash bar, raised over $8,000. Since then, the event has grossed more than $4,000,000 and become one of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS' signature events.
Broadway Bares XVII: "Myth Behavior" will play two performance on June 17, 2007, at 930PM and midnight.
