American Fiesta is an exploration of the deep political and social divide plaguing the contemporary landscape. When Steven, an obsessive collector of brightly colored vintage Fiestaware ceramic dinnerware, goes cross-country in search of the perfect specimens, he finds a series of remarkable encounters between residents of "red" and "blue" states, as well as some startling divides within his own family as he announces his intention to marry his same-sex partner.
Tomlinson, who will be making his New York stage debut with American Fiesta, has previously performed the solo plays Managed Care, Free Trade, Curb Appeal and Millennium Bug. An earlier version of American Fiesta was previously performed in Austin, Texas, where it won the American Theatre Critics Association's Osborn Award for Best Play.
