Caroline, Assassins Win D.C. Helen Hayes Awards

Studio Theatre Company's mounting of Caroline, or Change and Folger Theatre's production of Measure for Measure were named best musical and best play at the 2007 Helen Hayes Awards, which honor theatrical productions in the Washington D.C. area. Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, produced by Signature Theater in Virginia, took four prizes, including a lead actor prize for Will Gartshore and a directing honor for Joe Calarco. Frances Sternhagen was awarded the Helen Hayes Tribute at the ceremony held on April 16 at the Warner Theater. The complete list of winners is as follows:
