Broadway Grosses: Fantasia Still Soaring; Blonde Bubbly

American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino continued to show box-office power in The Color Purple, leading the musical to a top-five showing in this week's grosses at just over $1 million. Among the new Broadway entries, Legally Blonde cracked the top five in capacity, filling the Palace Theatre to 97.16% and narrowly edging Les Miserables, which played to a healthy 96.97% at the Broadhurst Theatre. Also topping 90% were a mix of long-running shows Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, The Color Purple and new hits A Moon for the Misbegotten, Mary Poppins, The Coast of Utopia, The Year of Magical Thinking.
