Broadway Grosses: Moon Shines on the Great White Way

Broadway received a bit of a bump this past week, with several Tony-nominated shows experiencing a rise at the box office. Though its star Kevin Spacey was overlooked by the nominators, A Moon for the Misbegotten jumped into the top five in capacity at almost 95% and grossed more than $575,000 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The box office take for Spring Awakening, which nabbed 11 Tony nominations, jumped more than $150,000 from the previous week; Grey Gardens, which got 10 nominations, saw an almost $60,000 increase in sales; 110 in the Shade, with five nominations, gained more than $50,000. By the end of the week, the lack of a Tony bump spelled the end of the line for Journey's End 24.88% of capacity for the week and Coram Boy 50.04%.
