Walmartopia Delays Start of Previews for Two Days

The off-Broadway production of Walmartopia has delayed its first preview for two days, to August 23, due to technical difficulties in loading in the set at the Minetta Lane Theatre, according to a spokesperson. The show had been scheduled to begin previews on August 21. Opening night will remain on September 3 Labor Day.

Walmartopia features a book by Catherine Capellaro, music and lyrics by Andrew Rohn and direction by Daniel Goldstein. It tells the tale of Vicki Latrell, a single mom and Wal-Mart employee who speaks out against her company's working conditions and finds herself and her young daughter jettisoned to 2036, a future in which Wal-Mart dominates the entire world. A previous version of the show played at the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival.
