Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director Michael Grandage has lined up A-listers Kenneth Branagh, Jude Law and Derek Jacobi for the company's new undertaking: a one-year, four-play residency at the West End Wyndham's Theatre beginning September 2008.
The season will begin on September 12, 2008, with Grandage directing Branagh in Anton Chekhov's Ivanov, in a new translation by Tom Stoppard. Grandage will also helm Shakespeare's Twelfth Night with Jacobi as Malvolio from December, 5, 2008, to March 7, 2009, and Yukio Mishima's Madame de Sade from March 13 to May 23, 2009. Law will star in Hamlet, directed by Branagh from May 29 to August 22, 2009. Further casting and details have not yet been announced.
The Donmar's current season, which continues at its recently purchased home in Covent Garden, includes the U.K. premiere of Parade; Othello, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ewan McGregor and Kelly Reilly; Arthur Miller's The Man Who Had All the Luck; August Strindberg's Creditors in a new translation by David Grieg, Pedro Calderon de la Barca's Life Is a Dream and T.S. Eliot's The Family Reunion.
