Atlantic Theater Company has announced that Jeffory Lawson, formerly of Roundabout Theatre Company, will become the company's new Managing Director beginning December 1, 2008. Lawson replaces Andrew Hamingson, who signed on as The Public Theater’s Executive Director in August 2008.
"We are thrilled to have Jeff Lawson join Atlantic,” Artistic Director Neil Pepe said of his new collaborator. “He is a strong leader, an outstanding fundraiser and all around exceptional guy. He will be an excellent addition to Atlantic and we’re lucky to have him.”
Lawson joined Roundabout Theatre Company in 2001 as Director of Development, managing the company’s fundraising programs and helping to grow the annual fundraising and sponsorship programs from $5 to $10 million. Lawson also planned and managed the successful $32 million campaign to fund renovations at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre and at Studio 54. Previous positions have included Associate Director of Development at New York City Opera at Lincoln Center and Director of Development at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College.
Atlantic Theater Company’s 2008-2009 season includes the world premiere of Beau Willimon’s Farragut North October 22 through Noveber 29, Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan December 9 through March 8, 2009 and Academy Award winning filmmaker Ethan Coen’s Offices Spring 2009.
