The new cast members join previously announced stars Mary-Louise Parker Hedda Gabler, Michael Cerveris Jorgen Tesman and Paul Sparks Ejlert Lovborg. Stormare will play Judge Brack, Carey has been cast as Miss Juliane Tesman, Markle will play Berte and Reeder will be Mrs. Thea Elvsted.
Stormare began his career at the Royal National Theater of Sweden under the direction of Ingmar Bergman, performing leading roles in Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Miss Julie, King Learand Hamlet. His many films include Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Awakenings, Chocolat, Armageddon, Premonition, The Brothers Grimm and Constantine. He played bad guy John Abruzzi on the first season of the hit Fox TV drama Prison Break.Carey received a Tony nomination for London Assurance and has appeared on Broadway in Pygmalion, Hotel Suites and Give Me Your Answer, Do!.
Markle’s Broadway credits include True West, The Grapes of Wrath, something Old, Something New, A Warm Body and Calculated Risk. Off-Broadway credits include Curse of the Starving Class, After the Prize, I Am a Camera, The Middle Ages and Measure for Measure.
Reeder was featured on Broadway last season in Top Girls. Her many New York theater credits include Sight Unseen, Living Room in Africa, The Wooden Breeks, Hedda Gabler, Small Tragedy, Humble Boy, An Experiment with an Air Pump, The Time of the Cuckoo, Some Voices and Macbeth.
The design team includes Hildegard Bechtler sets, Ann Roth costumes, Natasha Katz lights and John Gromada sound.
