Christine Ebersole and Donna Murphy will host the Drama League’s annual all-star benefit gala, a black-tie event to be held on February 2 at the Rainbow Room. This year’s gala, dubbed “A Musical Celebration of Broadway,” will honor Broadway producers Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley, in addition to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Drama League Directors Project.
Lane and Comley's recent Broadway productions include Sunday in the Park with George, Legally Blonde, The 39 Steps, Cyrano de Bergerac, T and the current revival of American Buffalo. His Tony Award-winning productions include Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Will Rogers Follies and La Cage Aux Folles. Together, he and Comley produced the Tony Award-winning Jay Johnson: The Two & Only.
"A Musical Celebration of Broadway” will highlighting the careers of Lane and Comley, as well as past Broadway productions helmed by alumni of the Drama League Directors Project. Directed by Johanna McKeon and Roger Danforth, with choreography by Tony Award winner Cady Huffman, the show is written by Stephen Cole, and features musical direction by David Krane.Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Drama League Directors Project is the nation’s leading career development program for early and mid-career directors. The organization aims to identify and help young, talented directors, and to bridge the gap between academic training and professional success.
