David Suchet and Elizabeth McGovern will join Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss in the upcoming London production of Joe Sutton’s Complicit. Directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, the new play begins performances at the Old Vic Theatre beginning January 7 and runs through February 21. Opening night is set for January 19.
Complicit explores the current tumultuous political climate. The show follows Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ben Kritzer Dreyfuss as he is hauled before the Supreme Court. There, he faces the dilemma of defending his belief in the freedom of the press or protecting his own family.
McGovern’s stage credits include Broadway’s A Map of the World, Hurlyburly The Old Vic, Dinner With Friends Hampstead Theatre and Three Days of Rain Donmar Warehouse. Film credits include Ordinary People, Ragtime which earned her an Academy Award nomination, Once Upon a Time in America, The Favor, Buffalo Soldiers and House of Mirth. On TV, she has appeared on the ITV remake of A Room With A Few and the recent BBC hit Freezing.
Suchet returns to the stage after performances in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Troilus and Cressida, The Tempest and Othello, as well as Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Aldwych Theatre, Separation Hampstead Theatre, Oleanna Royal Court Theatre and Amadeus The Old Vic, which earned him an Olivier Award nomination before transferring to Broadway, where he received a Tony Award nomination as well. Suchet has appeared on the big screen in Decision, A Perfect Murder and The Bank Job. A TV regular, he may be best known for his role on Agatha Christie’s Poirot.
