South Pacific will feature Andrew Samonsky beginning January 6, when the current cast member will succeed original revival star Matthew Morrison as Lt. Joe Cable. Samonsky, who originally played the role of Lt. Carmichael, has previously understudied the part of Lt. Cable. Morrison will play his last performance on January 4 at South Pacific’s Vivian Beaumont Theater.
Fellow original cast member Matt Caplan and newcomer Eric Anderson will also step into roles beginning January 6, replacing departing players Noah Weisburg and Victor Hawks as the show’s Professor and Stewpot, respectively. Weisburg and Hawks also play their last performances January 4.
Samonsky’s regional credits include White Christmas Denver Theater Center, CO and the national tour of Disney’s On The Record. The actor made his Broadway debut with South Pacific.
