The nominees for the 63rd Annual Tony Awards will be announced the on May 5, according to the newly released schedule of events for the 2008-2009 season. Broadway.com will publish the complete list of nominees, as well as feedback from those honored, that morning.
As previously announced, the annual awards ceremony will fete the best of Broadway from Radio City Music Hall during a live CBS telecast on June 7. The additional calendar of events surrounding the awards is as follows:
April 30: Official Cut-Off for 2008-2009 Eligibility, which specifies that all productions must open on or before April 30 in order to be eligible for consideration.
May 6: Meet the Nominees Press Reception, the annual gathering of nominees to speak with members of the New York press.
May 21: Annual Tony Nominees Luncheon, where nominees gather to celebrate their respective Tony nods.
The 2009 Tonys are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. Nina Lannan is chairman and Charlotte St. Martin is executive director of the Broadway League. Theodore S. Chapin is chairman and Howard Sherman is executive director of the American Theatre Wing. Alan Wasser Associates will act as the general manager of the 2009 Tony Awards.
