America Ferrera, Rosie O’Donnell and Tyne Daly are part of a star-studded female ensemble who have signed on for a series of six Monday night benefit readings of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s new play Love, Loss, and What I Wore. The readings began on February 2 and continue every Monday at the DR2 Theatre, directed by Karen Carpenter. Proceeds will be donated to Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that provides interview clothing and job support for low-income women getting back into the workforce. Producer Daryl Roth is presenting the event.
The cast of women will alternate each week and won’t be revealed until curtain time. The cast for the February 16 performance will include Ugly Betty star Ferrera, Heather Burns, Joyce Van Patten, Kathy Najimy and Kristen Schall. Other participants will include Blythe Danner, Kristen Johnston, Sarah Jones, Parker Posey, Karyn Quackenbush, Rondi Reed and Marlo Thomas.
Currently in development, Love, Loss and What I Wore is about clothes and the memories they trigger. The play is based on the book of the same name by Ilene Beckerman.
Audience members are invited to donate their gently-used accessories and purses, which will be collected in the lobby.
