Jessica Biel is set to make her Hollywood Bowl debut this summer in the legendary amphitheatre’s fully staged concert production of Guys and Dolls. Starring as Salvation Army lass Sarah Brown, Biel will co-star with Scott Bakula Nathan Detroit, Brian Stokes Mitchell Sky Masterson and John Mahoney Arvide Abernathy. The first performance will be July 31, with additional performances scheduled for August 1 and 2. Richard Jay-Alexander will direct.
Rounding out the cast are Ken Page as Nicely-Nicely Johnson and Ruth Williamson as General Matilda Cartwright. Choreography is by Tony winner Donna McKechnie, with Kevin Stites serving as conductor. Further details regarding the cast and creative team have yet to be announced.
Based on short stories by Damon Runyon, Guys and Dolls features a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, as well as the classic songs “Adelaide’s Lament,” “I’ll Know” and “Luck Be A Lady.” It premiered on Broadway on November 24, 1950, and won five Tony Awards in 1951, including Best Musical.
A new Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls is currently running at the Nederlander Theatre, starring Craig Bierko, Lauren Graham, Kate Jennings Grant and Oliver Platt.
