Elle Woods is headed to London. The West End premiere of Legally Blonde, directed by Jerry Mitchell, is set to begin performances at the Savoy Theatre on December 5.
Based on the popular 2001 film, Legally Blonde tells the story of stylish sorority sister Elle Woods, who doesn't take no for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
Legally Blonde features music and lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe, a book by Heather Hach and choreography by Mitchell. The musical premiered on Broadway in April 2007 and was nominated for seven 2007 Tony Awards. That fall, it was played in its entirety on MTV. Legally Blonde played its final perfomance on October 18, 2008.
Carousel, which is currently playing at the Savoy Theatre, ends its run on July 25.
