Nick Blaemire and James Gardiner's musical Glory Days, which closed after one Broadway performance in May 2008, will relive its own onstage glory day with a Tokyo production. The show, about four high school friends reuniting after their first eye-opening year at college, will play from June 11 through June 25. The musical has been translated into Japanese for the production.
“Nick and I are flying out to Japan on June 9 to see the opening night performance,” librettist Gardiner said in a recent interview. “We’re both ridiculously excited to see what they’ve done with it. I honestly don’t know what to expect. For the first time Glory Days is being rehearsed and produced and Nick and I are not even remotely involved.”
The production will star Japanese recording artists Attack All Around, comprised of Takahiro Nishijima, Kanata Irei, Shinki Rachi and Kohei, as the show’s quartet of friends.
Following a successful debut run at Washington D.C.’s Signature Theater, Glory Days transferred to Broadway in the spring of 2008. The musical opened at Circle in the Square Theatre on May 6 after 17 preview performances and closed after its opening night bows.
