Brooklyn Bridge: Sam Mendes & Co. to Return in 2010

Chekhov and Shakespeare fans rejoice: After the success of this year’s Cherry Orchard and Winter’s Tale, the Bridge Project will return to BAM in 2010 with Three Sisters and As You Like It. Once again, Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes American Beauty will helm both productions.

The Bridge Project—a three-season joint venture among BAM, London’s Kevin Spacey-run Old Vic Theatre and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions co-producers of Shrek—blends casts from both sides of the Atlantic performing the two chosen plays in rep. The inaugural productions, which won critical acclaim at BAM and are set to begin a three-month run at the Old Vic on May 23, starred Simon Russell Beale, Sinéad Cusack, Rebecca Hall, Richard Easton, Josh Hamilton and Ethan Hawke.

No casting or dates have been announced for Three Sisters and As You Like It.
