In addition to numbers from the Best Musical nominees Billy Elliot, Next to Normal, Rock of Ages and Shrek, plus nominated revivals Guys and Dolls, Hair, Pal Joey and West Side Story, the ceremony will also spotlight three touring shows: Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia! and Legally Blonde.
Viewers in the New York City area can take advantage of the first-ever Times Square simulcast: The entire show—including the first pre-CBS hour—will play on the massive Clear Channel Spectacolor HD Screen from 7 to 11 pm. The just-built pedestrian plazas between 42nd and 47th streets should accommodate some 2,000 theater fans.
The Tony Awards—hosted by Broadway vet and How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris—will be broadcast live on CBS on June 7 from 8-11pm.
