Call it an "omigod you guys" reprise: Tony Award nominee Laura Bell Bundy will assume the role of Elle Woods in the current touring production of Legally Blonde. The actress, who originated the part on Broadway, will take the stage at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville, playing evening performances only from June 23 through June 28. Bundy temporarily replaces touring lead Becky Gulsvig, who will break from the show for vacation.
Bundy reprised the role earlier this year in Washinton, D.C., and East Lansing, Michigan, when Gulsvig was sidelined by a broken toe.
In addition to her Tony nominated performance inBlonde, Bundy’s Broadway credits include Wicked and Hairspray. Regional credits count Ruthless, The Musical!, Gypsy, The Sound of Music and the Los Angeles run of current Tony nominated hit Rock of Ages. The star, a Lexington, Kentucky, native, recently moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a country music recording artist.
A musicalization of the popular feature film starring Reese Witherspoon as stylish Harvard Law student Elle Woods, Legally Blonde received seven 2007 Tony nominations. The show features a book by Tony nominee Heather Hach and score by the Tony nominated team of Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe.
