Excellent cast, classic songs
"The cast was very good and the songs are absolutely fantastic but it feels like it needs some updated costumes and sets. I was really surprised that most of the costumes were just black mesh. Looked more 1970’s than 20’s which I would appreciate if it seemed intentional not just cheap. It was still very fun just distracting "

Humor, crazy talent and Jinkx Monsoon!
"Lucky enough to see this classic show with special guest Jinkx Monsoon. You could tell the cast knew each other well and the presentation was seemless. Bravo!"

Good songs, great ensemble cast.
"Velma Kelly played by Sophie Carmen-Jones is superb and stole the whole show! Great voice! Bring a jacket, the air con in the Ambassador theatre is freezing! "

Great! But different...
"As a Disney Musical Lover you will definitely miss changing costumes & stage design. But as a lover of fantastic singing and dancing quality you will love it. So we were absolutely overwhelmed by the singing/dancing quality.. But the stage design and costumes were too "boring" for our taste. "

Mmmm don’t cast famous people lol
"Everything about the show was great, we loved Velma, mama,Amos, all the dancers but it is sad to spent money travel into the city and see a lead character who doesn’t know how to dance or sing. Roxie did okay with her acting but she’s just a pretty face. I was hoping to see someone who truly embodied the character and had the pre-requisites needed to be on stage. Compared to Velma, Roxie didn’t make the cut. "

Honesty
"I had seen the show years and years ago. But returned with my wife to see it. Singing and dancing superb. Roxy and Thelma were amazing. But Roxy’s husband is a show stealer - he is an absolute treasure. The “current events” jokes fell flat audience wide and not into the cast trying to interact with the crowd. Want to see the talent on stage and follow the story. The conductor of the orchestra having an “active role” was not impressive. "

Great music, a little underwhelming
"Chicago, starring Alyssa Milano as Roxie, was a fun experience! I think the problem I had with it was just that I have watched the movie so much because it’s one of my favorites, so I constantly compared the actors onstage with the movie, which made it a bit underwhelming. Alyssa was best when she got to show her funny side, and the other actors and dancers were absolutely flawless in their performances. If I had seen this before seeing the movie, I probably would have rated it higher, so if you haven’t seen the movie, go for it and watch this fun show!"

Supporting cast was amazing
"For such an iconic role, Roxie was just okay. Her vocals were weak and she seemed unprepared, which was disappointing for such a central character. However, “Mama” was played by an understudy who was absolutely fantastic—commanding, powerful, and full of charisma. The rest of the cast was incredible and truly lived up to the high standard that Chicago is known for."

Good but not transportative!
"This was our first Broadway show and expectations were high. We had a lovely evening and enjoyed the show but it didn't absord us and transport us to Chicago in the 1920's."

Felt a little dated
"I know the show has been running a REALLY long time (since 1975), and I had seen it previously in 2008. But seeing it again in 2025 and this time with family and friends in their early 30s, (I’m in late 50s), and I have to say I found it a little dated. The performers were amazing and very talented, I just found the show a little dull many times and some of the songs and dances showed their age. I would choose a more current show next time if we go back to NYC. "

Good Show
"Good show overall with the singing, dancing, and performing. I just wish there were more stage changes (kind of bland). I feel in that aspect felt a little flat for me. "

3.5 🌟
"Chicago is one of my all time favourite musicals. I love the music and choreography. This production was very good but not as grand or impressive as in London on the West End or frankly as the movie. "

Good show but …
"Loved the Cell Block Tango, the humour sprinkled throughout, the Mary Sunshine character as well as the three main characters! Major detractor was the length … many songs and concepts dragged on and on … we get it! The pace would have been much better if the show ended 45 minutes earlier. It would have been a cleaner, clearer paced show. "

Good venue, good seats
"I enjoyed the "coziness" of the venue; it's not so large you feel lost and the seats offer good viewing. The performance, while good, didn't grab me like other plays/musicals I've attended. I don't have any complaints about the performance or performers, just a personal opinion based on my experiences. There is better ticket pricing mid week."

Very good but underwhelming
"Chicago was very good, but a bit underwhelming compared to the heart-filling passion of Hamilton, Les Miserables or Hadestown. Some of the performers looked a bit bored. It was still an honor to see a Broadway classic. "

About Chicago

Set in the legendary city during the roaring “jazz hot” 20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. Nightclub star Velma’s serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding the two in bed together. Driven chorus girl Roxie’s been tossed in the joint for bumping off the lover she’s been cheating on her husband with. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn, who turn Velma’s incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. But Roxie’s got some of her own tricks up her sleeve…
