Iconic play with great performances
"I thought the performances were great. Interesting storyline that most people are familiar with since the show has been around for 30 years and a movie/musical was made about it. Although it’s an iconic play and very well done, because it has been around so long, the technology, costumes, and set changes are not as impactful as many of the newer shows. Chicago is a more traditional play compared to the current plays on Broadway with a one tiered set for the orchestra and very little technology . Very entertaining play with great performers but not on the top of the list of my favorites with the other plays out there now. If we were in the late 90s now, it would probably be at the top of the list . "

Great production, fantastic orchestra, some great performances
"No fancy sets but that was a plus. The band is onstage and the actors/dancers work around that. The music was fantastic and the choreography too. Sophie Carmen-Jones stole the show as Velma Kelly--a very strong vocal and dancing performance by this talented woman. Rachel Schur, in the key role of Roxie Hart, wasn't as strong as Ms. Carmen-Jones's performance. Our Saturday matinee (Nov 8) featured Joseph London standing in for Raymond Bokhour as Roxie's husband Amos and his performance was poignant and effective. This is a great revival and highly recommended."

Exciting performance with a surprise at the end
"The show was amazing and the 2 main characters of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly played by Dylis Croman and Sophie Carmen-Jones respectively were truly awesome. Their vocal capacity was clear, and concise and their performance was excellent! The remaining cast did a superb job supporting them in the performance. Also Rema Webb as Mama Morton stole the show with her vocal capabilities! Way to go Chicago crew! "

Very Good Show In a Historical Theatre
"Loved the show, the music and the dancing is a classic in theatre. You can feel a little of the datedness but thats part of the charm. Its fun to watch the live band on stage interacting with the actors but i think the band couldve looked a little more lively. Some of them seemed like they didnt want to be there. 4 stars as its not amongst my favorites but definitely worth a viewing."

Chicago in June
"The show & cast were amazing. I would not recommend this show to families with younger children as the story line is not appropriate for the younger audience.
We thoroughly enjoyed the show & would recommend if you are in NY."

Songs that are still well presented after 25 years
"The songs & sharp sexy dancing were the highlites. The story & dialogue was the least effective but there were many great one liners. The band played great tunes."

Fun time in the slammer!
"We had a great time at Chicago! All of the performers were great! Sophie Carmen-Jones was fantastic as Velma and is a true powerhouse! It was fun to see Erika Jayne as Roxie, too! She is our favorite on RHOBH, and it was great seeing her shine. The entire cast was strong & we were thoroughly entertained. Neither of us would recommend the show for kids, but it would be fine for teens. Go & enjoy! “Shimmy ‘til your garters break….and all that jazz!”"

Very entertaining
"Chicago has amazing songs and the band was incredible. The actress who played Velma was beyond fantastic. We had an understudy for the role of Billy Flynn, he was very good but we’d heard great things about the actor he replaced so that was a little disappointing. I felt the lead actress did not have the skills to keep up with the amazing ensemble "

Innovative staging, excellent dancing
"Staging the orchestra within the performance space was a good idea, worked well. Good use of lighting , particularly in the trial scene.
Dancing was energetic and innovative, a challenge to see all of the dance moves with so much energy and dancers in the scene."

Excellent cast, classic songs
"The cast was very good and the songs are absolutely fantastic but it feels like it needs some updated costumes and sets. I was really surprised that most of the costumes were just black mesh. Looked more 1970’s than 20’s which I would appreciate if it seemed intentional not just cheap. It was still very fun just distracting "

Great singing, fairly uninspired dancing
"Overall, a good show. The stage limitations seem to limit the full impact of this great story. The singers are terrific, and they seem like great dancers, but because the amount of stage available with the orchestra taking up 75%, the dance numbers seem to have been stultified. Also, everything felt rushed, without a lot of character insight."
