"Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf headline a terrific cast that delivers this American classic in a powerful, visceral performance. The set which is simple/brutalists is also great."

Is the salesman dead?
"Heck no! Thus performance was fabulous. The acting, directing, scenery, lighting and music were all characters in this play. I was riveted for the almost 3 hours. Don't miss it! It may never come again like this, with this cast!!"

Taste of reality
"We all know someone like Willy. A bizarre mash up of Ralph Kramden and Wile E. Coyote. Forever the optimist but can't get anywhere because seeing his own shortcomings is beyond him. You root for him and the Loman family but they too have been infected by this virus that leaves them on that hamster wheel. Except for maybe the matriarch played perfectly by L.Metcalf. She painfully stays by his side while understanding she can't save him from himself."

Magnificent!
"This was one of the best if not, the best performances I have ever went to. We live in the city and we go to many plays. Nathan Lane and LAURIE Metcalf were unbelievable. I have no words. The young Biff and the mature Biff were magnificent. I can’t even believe how wonderful it was. I left there using a lot of tissues, it really hit me and my husband. The performances were unbelievable. Do not hesitate to see this show your jaw will drop. Hurry and go see it before it’s too late. Thank you for the most magnificent performances. The whole cast was tremendous. They were so wonderful. You actually forgot it was Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf on stage. I love them both so much; thank you again broadway.com. It was unbelievable! A MUST SEE!"

Powerful and engaging!
"Arthur Miller’s play comes to life with suburb actors telling an endless tale about life, family, work and love. Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf are pure gold in their roles. It’s every bit worth seeing! "

Fantastic acting. Terrific use of sets and mood!
"First of all the performances were just out of this world. Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf, as always at the top of their game the other actors were phenomenal, and I would love to see them in something else again. My son loved the use of the set pieces and how the mood was set up and changed. I do Broadway a lot. This was my first play and just was enrolled every minute. So emotional and so much depth. Go see it."

Exceptional cast in an American classic
"The staging of this version is incredible and these actors are the best in their league. But Christopher Abbott, Respect! He was brilliant. I can not recommend it enough. I was initially disappointed that Ben Ahlers wasn't performing in this matinee, but Jack Falahee shocked me with his incredible performance. Not a dry eye in the place when it ended. WOW"

Intensity
"Nathan Lane's intensity was amazing. How can he play the part two times on a matinee day.
Son and father love/hate relationship was intense, but too long. More could be made of Willy's slow disconnection with a sales career.

Excellent Show
"I was very surprised by Nathan Lane's excellent portrayal of Willy Loman; I didn't see him in the role but he exceeded my expectations. Laurie Metcalf was wonderful as well. I didn't care for Biff's performance but thought Happy was excellent. All in all it is well worth seeing, although not the best version of this show I have seen."

…And Attention Was Paid
"Lane, Metcalf and the cast rose above a technical glitch (that literally threatened to dim the stage) and delivered a pitch-perfect paean to Arthur Miller’s American tragedy. From the opening scene of Loman driving onto the stage in a red Chevy to the end, the pale blue lighting forebodes and underlines the gloom that surrounds the Lomans like a deathly hallow. "

Not everyone actor can play every role
"I enjoyed the show although i think Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf, though doing a good job were both miscast.
I loved the set, music, most of the direction
Also, the brothers, especially Biff. "

Metcalf was the hub
"Laurie Metcalf provided a superb performance as others seemed miscast or misdirected, The interpretation of Willie Loman as more mentally disturbed than society's victim (drunk on the American hype dream, foolishly self-deceiving but betrayed by capitalism, boss & sons) was a mistake.
The car focus was impressive but it looked like a 1960s car - so the desolate set lacked a feeling of place or time.
Nathan Lane & Chris Abbott worked hard but no one seemed quite 'present' in a simple & true way. Too much shouting."

Aiming at the Wrong Target
"The Death of a Salesman is a critique of The American Dream. Namely, that hard work and playing by the rules leads to success. Yet Willy Loman's version of TAD is quite different. He believes success comes from being liked.
Arthur Miller has set up a straw man. His play is about a delusional man's version of TAD. As such it looses much of its sting as a social criticism.
In addition, at three hours, I found my mind wondering. Loman's often repeated delusions don't help. Still some of the writing is brilliant. The play is regarded as a classic and, "Attention must be paid."

Left at intermission
"I found the show’s set distracting. I admire Mr. Lane and applaud his tackling this particular American classic, but, no….this was just not for him. I wasn’t thrilled, and maybe confused, by the actors portraying the sons, with their interpretations. Saving grace was Laurie Metcalf who woke me up . As much as I found Ms Metcalf the best part, that wasn’t enough to keep me from leaving at intermission.
