Amazing performances
"A simple story line of girl meets boy and the path of true love does not run smoothly across the generations. There were some energetic dance scenes but the highlights were the virtuoso singing performances of Jersey (Jessica Vosk) and Davis (Brandon Victor Dixon) all held together by the bubbly Maleah Joi Moon"

My family of adults, a teen and tween really enjoyed it!
"The music is awesome and really connects all ages of the crowd. There is more cussing and sexual nature than I thought there would be which was fine for my teen/tween kids but don’t know about younger kids. The set was so dynamic and brought the story to life. "

My 7 year old loved it despite strong language
"I have been a long time fan of Bway shows and this was my child’s first. She loved it even though she only knew a limited amount of the songs. She looked at me every time a bad word was said to make sure she was still good to continue watching but when I gave her the nod she was back locked in. The singing was good, the characters were not fully written but were good enough. All in all, it did what it was supposed to do and even got a few emotional tears out of me in the 2nd half. "

What's cookin' in this Kitchen?
"My daughter in Santiago recommended me this musical for my first visit to the Big Apple. And it was a real treat for me to see and hear such talented artists on stage. Great voices and superb dancing to complement a very touching story depicting part of the life of Alicia Keys. What was cooking in Hell's Kitchen was a real drama that probably is affecting quite a good number of young people in monoparental homes, not only in America but also in other places in the world."

Get ready to feel the joy!
"I was asked if I liked Hell's Kitchen, and my response was Hell Yes!! Vibrant, energetic, and soulful. The only reason I gave it a 4 vs 5, is bec of the language. If you take your kids, be prepared."

The women are ON FIRE!
"Just to let audiences know....the story is more a moment in time for the lead character. It all takes place when she was 17. It is not an autobiographical piece about Alicia Keys. After the opening sequences, there is little said about Hell's Kitchen itself. All that being said, the talent is tremendous. It is worth the ticket price to see and hear the women; Maleah Joi Moon, Shoshana Bean, & Kecia Lewis!! The choreography is fun and exhilarating! When the music was at it's loudest, it overpowered the vocals and I couldn't hear much of the lyrics. It just wasn't necessary....balance the music with the vocals PLEASE! I want to hear what they're singing about! Overall, it was a great evening of entertainment with powerful performances!"

Teenage love, angst, and the rebellious creative spirit
"Fantastic music, exciting choreography and an urban designed setting that has the audience from the first notes to the grand finale. It’s about family, first love, the rebellious and creative spirit that all converges when you’re 17. It’s a portrait of the good and not so good of the city’s struggling working class and diverse community. But, above all, it’s a love song to the apartment building where you grew up, the neighborhood you hung out in, and the creative energy and vitality of NYC. "

What did the say?
"Like everything else on broadway its overmiked but even When its just dialogue actors nowadays don’t know how to enunciate or project the only exception being the woman who won the tony for best supporting and that’s because she started performing when those skills were necessary and expected"

A fun and moving experience
"The show was well worth the money. We especially enjoyed Kecia Lewis's and Shoshana Bean's performances. The "adults" rocked! The music was fine, though sometimes so loud the voices got drowned out. People should know that there are strong strobing lights. We were surprised at the late seating policy -- people were being seated 30+ minutes after the show started -- at least they were in the upper balcony where we were."

Should be rated pg-13
"Great story and music and performers. Certain scenes/language were not appropriate for younger children. Also music was some times too loud to be able to hear lyrics of songs.."

High energy, lively dance routine.
"Lots of high volume music and lively dance routines. I could not understand a lot of the musical numbers as the background music was very loud and the lyrics were sung very quickly."

too loud
"It's obvious this show was over-amplified. My wife spent much of it covering her ears. For some reason only some of Keys' greatest hits weren't as overly loud as other songs. The actors and singers were very talented. The choreography started out ok, but became somewhat boring after a while. Scene changes were very good. The book seemed like it is Alicia Keys imagining her life if nobody showed her a piano until she was 17, although in fact she is a classically trained pianist who started writing songs at 12, signed her first recording contract at 15 and by 20 was a star, maybe a superstar, having battled through contract issues. In other words, her real life is much more exciting than the book. The tension between mother and daughter would seem to be more typical when raising a teenager a few years younger than 17. Having Ali grow up in Manhattan Plaza and her father leaving when she was two and not reconciling when she was young seem to be the best reasons to call the show quasi-biographical. Squeezing Keys' songs into this book like was done in Mamma Mia! doesn't seem to be all that successful, but her songs are great. "

Great show!
"I enjoyed the show hearing some of Alicia’s old tunes brought me back and made me a little emotional. One thing I will say is that I could’ve done without the cursing especially because I took my 8 year old with me. Other than that is was a great show. "

A well done mixture of musical genres
"We loved the music; a mix of classical, operatic, Blues, Jazz, Hip hop, Pop and modern dance, in a compelling storyline. Highly recommended. It is very NYC centric. Our growing up in the City made it very relate-able. In some numbers the lyrics were not clear to allow for clear understanding. "
