"It's obvious this show was over-amplified. My wife spent much of it covering her ears. For some reason only some of Keys' greatest hits weren't as overly loud as other songs. The actors and singers were very talented. The choreography started out ok, but became somewhat boring after a while. Scene changes were very good. The book seemed like it is Alicia Keys imagining her life if nobody showed her a piano until she was 17, although in fact she is a classically trained pianist who started writing songs at 12, signed her first recording contract at 15 and by 20 was a star, maybe a superstar, having battled through contract issues. In other words, her real life is much more exciting than the book. The tension between mother and daughter would seem to be more typical when raising a teenager a few years younger than 17. Having Ali grow up in Manhattan Plaza and her father leaving when she was two and not reconciling when she was young seem to be the best reasons to call the show quasi-biographical. Squeezing Keys' songs into this book like was done in Mamma Mia! doesn't seem to be all that successful, but her songs are great. "

Great show!
"I enjoyed the show hearing some of Alicia’s old tunes brought me back and made me a little emotional. One thing I will say is that I could’ve done without the cursing especially because I took my 8 year old with me. Other than that is was a great show. "

An Honest Look at Life
"I loved the tremendous level of talent in Hell's Kitchen. The acting was natural, and the music was very relevant. While the story was somewhat predictable, the sincerity of the actors brought it over the top."

Great Music!
"I really loved the music, and the characters. I felt the story was not as developed as I would have hoped. Over all the actors really brought the music to life!"

A well done mixture of musical genres
"We loved the music; a mix of classical, operatic, Blues, Jazz, Hip hop, Pop and modern dance, in a compelling storyline. Highly recommended. It is very NYC centric. Our growing up in the City made it very relate-able. In some numbers the lyrics were not clear to allow for clear understanding. "

Beyond amazing music .. lack story
"The cast was so phenomenally talented that you could overlook the boring and lackluster story. Spent so much time with the main character fighting with her mom to form any true emotional connection to any characters. Every song gave you chills but the story didn’t show the point of the young girl who was wasting her potential talent. "

Great show… sound vibrations all around!
"The sound was turned up way to high… I think the music and acting was wonderful. The music could have been better if it was lower just a bit. "

My daughter (30) thought it was very good.
"Typically street story. The songs/singing, and dancers were very good. The play itself was missing something"

Ok for a night out
"I’m a Native New Yorker, a former performer and a huge Broadway fan. I LOVE Alicia Keyes but unfortunately I didn’t love this show. The music is great and there are some standout performances from the “mother”, “father “ and “music teacher “ but the storyline, script and choreography are basic and at times, a bit corny. The show doesn’t flow very well. It wasn’t until after intermission that I was truly captivated and moved by the performances. I enjoyed the show overall but it didn’t leave me wanting to see it again as I do with most shows. I hope they will tweak the beginning and work on the acting, so it will be around for a while. "

Good but not great
"I thought two characters in the show were particularly standout - the mom and the piano teacher. I also thought some of the supporting charters and the dancing was fabulous. However, I thought the main character was overacting and the storyline in general was uninspiring and even boring."

Excellent except for replacement of main character.
"The music and acting were superb. The replacement for the main character has a beautiful voice, but didn’t enunciate her words. You could clearly understand everyone else’s vocals, except for the main character. VERY disappointing‼️ Every other actor’s singing was easy to hear and understand. I was sitting in the fifth row so I should have been able to hear EVERY WORD clearly. "
