"My friend was visiting me from California and she wanted to see a Broadway show. This was my number one choice and I am so glad that we were able to get tickets. The show was amazing. "Amazing performance! There was a sex scene that we were unprepared for, but it was done as gracefully as possible. A heads up for people with kids. And lots of F words, so that was also unexpected. But yes, overall, such a nice show! Goosebump inducing moments, very hip hop / RnB appeal on the musical elements. Poignant story telling and pretty fast paced. For Indians who aren't accustomed to ebonics or urban NYC accent, it might be a tad bit difficult to understand all the dialogues. But the essence can easily be felt even by non English speakers because of the brilliant direction and acting. Insanely talented singers and dancers"

A win for our family with teens!
"Excellent, engaging, and deeply intriguing — our entire family, including our 14- and 16-year-olds, loved it. The show is edgy enough and full of incredible music to completely grab and hold their attention.
The story explores big emotions, teenage angst, complicated (and sometimes hurtful) parent-child dynamics, and the realities of social, economic, and racial differences and injustices. It’s raw, heartfelt, and beautifully told.
One note for sensitive viewers: there’s a brief scene with intense strobing red lights (representing police arrival) that can be jarring from a sensory standpoint, and there’s also a portrayal of a first teenage sexual encounter. As long as parents and teens are comfortable with that, this is the show to take your teens to in NYC.
And of course — Alicia Keys is amazing."
