Christopher Plummer & Brian Dennehy Bring Inherit the Wind Back to Broadway
With two Tony Award-winning headliners leading its 34-member cast, Inherit the Wind returned to Broadway on April 12 in a splendid new production directed by Doug Hughes at the Lyceum Theatre. Playing the iconic roles of lawyers Henry Drummond and Matthew Harrison Brady, Christopher Plummer and Brian Dennehy, respectively, duke out the creationism v. evolution argument in Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee's 1955 courtroom drama, which was inspired by the Scopes' "monkey" trials of 1925 in Tennessee. Following the opening night curtain calls, we joined Messrs. Plummer and Dennehy and their fellow Inherit-ers a few blocks from the Lyceum for a lovely party at the Bryant Park Grill on West 40 Street. Check it out.
