The play where everything goes wrong
"The performances were absolutely outstanding! From the very first moment, I felt as though I had been transported to a world filled with joy and laughter. The energy on stage was contagious, and I couldn’t stop laughing throughout the entire show. This is the second time I’ve seen the play, and I’m already eagerly planning to experience it again. It’s a delightful escape that leaves you with a smile long after the curtain falls."

Hilarious story performed by talented actors
"Great storyline and creatively done to portray all of the incidents that occurred during the production of a play within a play. I had no idea how it was going to be presented, and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it."

What a surprise
"At first I actually thought that the show was just going to be lame. The acting almost seemed like over acting until I realized that it's no accident, it's all intentional. I wish that somewhere in the show there was one ensemble number where everyone sang a line. I think the show is missing that. It could be written in using a soundtrack. That's my suggestion for whatever it' worth. All in all, I laughed so hard that I had tears which is exactly what you want when you go to a show. Also, the main characters make you feel as if you in the audience are part of the show. I'm so glad I saw it. Well worth my time spent!!! "

Incredible
"Very funny & entertaining. Set was amazing with multiple props that drop. Was scary at times but their skills in holding all props was excellent. "

Being grounded in NYC was not a bad thing!
"We had seen 5 Broadway shows in 3 days and needed one to fill our extra night. Our friends saw the add and we took a chance. Boy are we glad we did! It was funny, entertaining and full of surprises. The actors were perfect for this play! Thank you for a relaxing evening!"

So funny and fast paced
"This show is so funny and unexpected So many " oh my goodness " moments The actors ability to engage with the audience while still in character was incredible Saw this with my 16 yo daughter and she said it was her favorite show of the weekend ( and she is a musical theater kid) Would see it again "

Hilarious!
"Loved it! Lots to laugh at. Come a little early as the play sort of starts with the audience prior to official start time. Very very very funny and at times very unexpected!"

If you like the show you'll love the play
"Great cast and stays really true to the original cast from the shows. All the classic gags included, plus a couple of new ones. Some of the setups run a little long, but all-in-all really good fun."

Clever slapstick
"OK, I am not a fan of slapstick and if someone had described this play to me I probably would not have gone. But, I did go, and I thoroughly enjoyed just relaxing and laughing, and then laughing some more. The routines were predictable but clever and the acting was actually quite good."

An unhinged comedic thrill ride.
"The Play that Goes Wrong is a hilarious romp through a presentation of "Murder as Havisham Manor." Excellent acting and great line delivery had me laughing out loud so often, I'm sure I missed more than a few other funny moments. A memorable experience of mounting chaos that delivers tons of laugh out loud moments. Anyone who has ever wanted to laugh should catch this play."

Funny show
"The show was funny and engaging, but didn’t love that the same things that went wrong got used over and over again. "

Fun and light hearted
"The stage designer really did an amazing job on the set. Some of the effects were quite stunning and smoothly done. I was in attendance with my adult son and we both agreed that it was fun and often very funny, but it is definitely slapstick humor and some of the gags got tiresome for us. I think kids would LOVE this play. If you're a diehard Broadway fan and want to see every show, then this is a nice addition to your list, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is new to Broadway and looking for a more traditional show such as Wicked, Book of Mormon, etc."

This show is for kids only
"The jokes in this play are really only funny for kids below age 12. I cannot recommend this play at all for adults. The price is not justified for this show. "

Slapstick wears thin
"While the actors work hard and are excellent, the slapstick humor was just too much for us. There were several funny moments but the play deteriorates toward the end as the same gags are featured over and over again. "

About The Play That Goes Wrong

Welcome to opening night of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a Broadway show—a ramshackle set, a leading lady with a concussion, and a corpse that can’t play dead. It’s a classic murder mystery… and it’s a mystery how it ever got to Broadway!
