Powerful, moving. Incredibly well acted.
" It was a troubling story but done with integrity and power. We need to look at humanity in all its forms - and do better. This could inspire that. And a love of acting, hope and relationships."

Tragically beautiful
"This play hits for many reasons! But the biggest is it shines a much needed light on how we need a complete overhaul of our “justice” system. Adrienne and Tessa are magic! As is the rest of the cast! Go see!"

Superb
"If you are in need of a play with great actors and solid story, this is for you. It's not a musical but full of impressive dialog, acting and creative set design. Even though it is long and we are told "it's a quiet play", time passes so quickly. Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson are flawless. Every line is delivered with perfection. Every scene is enthralling. It’s good
"Acting is superb. Staging is interesting. It’s a long time to sit in a basically uncomfortable seat, but the story is totally absorbing. A well-constructed play."

A Must See!
"Adrian Brody and Tessa Thompson were incredible! The story is common, yet unfortunate, and they helped bring it to life. Humor was added and that helped to balance the mood in the theatre. It is a must see!"

Very interesting.
"As someone who has spent 30+ years working in the criminal justice system I found the story to be extremely interesting. As was pointed out a few times, "yes, this really happened" which is head shaking.
As an audience member, the voices could have been a little louder. It was difficult to hear at times.

strong difficult play about injustice and impotence
"Well written, excellently played, good staging. Strong subject that deserves to be heard. However, the two primary actors need to project better in their early scenes where they are speaking to each other. {Perhaps they are used to film where the camera and thew sound system do the work. In the theater they need to be heard and it was a struggle.) It got better as the play went on but it was frustrating not to hear well."

About
The Fear of 13
The Fear of 13 tells the extraordinary true story of Nick Yarris, who spends more than two decades on death row for a murder he insists he did not commit. Through a series of prison visits with a volunteer named Jackie, Nick traces a life shaped by impulse and consequence. As Nick and Jackie’s conversations deepen, the line between witness and participant blurs, forcing both to confront what justice demands, what belief requires, and the perilous distance between true freedom and the illusion of self- determination. By turns devastating, darkly funny, and life-affirming, The Fear of 13 is a powerful exploration of truth and trust, conscience and connection.
