"So much talking not a great 🎶 musical. But it was voted number one so don’t go by my choice."

Not the kind of show I love.
"I am in the minority, as the energy and enthusiasm of the audience was great, but for me, it was too hokey and predictable and like a Disney or Hallmark movie. The singing voices were wonderful, but I was not worried ever about the characters or the outcome. Sets and lighting was very creative!"

Not impressed
"The story was a bit slow and most importantly I could understand the words when the lead Pony Boy was singing. He didn’t sing loud and clearly so it was hard to understand him , especially in the beginning when we needed the backstory. There were plenty of other performers who sang louder who could have played a better Pony Boy. "

Poor story
"Its a very melodramatic soap opera- like story. The script lacks originality. Mediocre production. The songs and good and the voices are great. I still enjoyed it but I wouldn’t like to see it again nor recomend it.

Disappointed
"We were so excited to see this Tony Award winning show. Our excitement soon turned to disappointment. Although the cast was quite talented, the storyline was difficult to follow, as was the dialogue- and we had very good orchestra seats. The choreography was just okay but we cannot comment on the 2nd Act as we left at Intermission. We are avid theatre patrons and when you pay SO much money for Broadway tickets, it is truly disappointing to not enjoy it. Our recommendation is that you choose another show. "

Tries but no
"Great staging and solid performances can't overcome a weak, predictable story line and mediocre score. "

It was just ok!
"I wish I didn't know it won a Tony for Best Play.
Maybe I expected it to be amazing and in all fairness, the actors were extremely talented but I couldn't feel a connect or a flow with the show.
To me there was no stand out song or performance.
I was disappointed but the Broadway experience is always wonderful. "

Ho Hum
"Songs all seemed the same and nothing that resonates after you leave the performance. I don't get how this won Tony's. We picked this as it was a day before Wednesday and other matinées were not available. Maybe the bar after you see Wicked and some other 'greats' is set too high. "

Good performers bad storyline
"Singers all did a great job. Not happy with the story line. To many liberties which ruined a great book and movie. Sets were great. "

Boring and Missed on all Levels
"This play has been so overrated! The flow and storyline is so boring. The actors did a great job, however the producer missed the mark. The stage was sparse. Play did not flow and nothing about it captured your attention. The Bernard Jacobs theater was just as bad. Super tight seating, very uncomfortable, no bathrooms on main or upper levels, you have to go down to the basement. Theater needs a major renovation - both play and theater were terrible."

Great effects & energetic cast, but difficult to follow conversations.
"The effects were amazing. The cast’s energy was great. The songs were pitchy & the words almost impossible to follow. Even regular conversations were muffled or too softly spoken. The storyline was very familiar and unoriginal. "

About
The Outsiders
The winner of the Tony Award® for Best Musical is The Outsiders. This classic coming-of-age story takes you to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, where Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their family of Greaser “outsiders” dream about who they want to become in a world that will never accept them. The Outsiders features a “tuneful and soul-bearing” (New York Stage Review) original score, “high-octane choreography” (New York Magazine), and a “sensational young cast” (The Wall Street Journal) that brings the show to life.
